Jon Watts, who successfully directed the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, has now distanced himself from directing Spider-Man 4. Watts has revealed that the reason for his decision was the tremendous success and audience response to the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home”. This film set a historical record, bringing together Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker versions. Watts believes that the quality and audience response of this film can never be found again, which is turning him towards new projects.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Watts revealed that after the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, he felt that it was almost impossible to replicate the uniqueness of the film. As a result, he also stepped away from the MCU’s Fantastic Four film. He believes that the film’s performance and the overwhelming response from the audience helped him understand that it was time to focus on new and different projects.

Watts says, “That was a very special moment in time, and the response to that movie was incredible. It’s never going to be like that, ever again.” It is clear from his statement that there are deep feelings and understanding behind his decision not to return for Spider-Man 4. Now it remains to be seen with which new and exciting project Watts will come in front of the audience.

The buzz for the director of Spider-Man 4 is hot, especially since Marvel and Sony are looking for a new vision after the exit of Jon Watts. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are currently in the news. Both of these directors have already worked on two episodes of the Disney+ show “Ms. Marvel” and have achieved great success in the Bad Boys film series. Given their fast-paced and energetic filmmaking style, they could be an ideal choice for Spider-Man 4.

When it comes to potential directors for Spider-Man 4, Sam Raimi’s name cannot be ignored. Raimi did a great job with Tobey Maguire in the Spider-Man trilogy, especially Spider-Man 2, which is still considered an ideal hero film. His directing experience and his deep understanding of Spider-Man make him an impressive candidate for this new project. After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Raimi returning to Spider-Man’s universe again could be another reason to praise.

On the other hand, Drew Goddard’s name is also in the news. Goddard, who created Netflix’s “Daredevil” series, is currently known as a successful and respected writer/director. Given the depth of his work and storytelling methods, Goddard could be a great addition to Spider-Man 4. His creativity and experienced approach, especially after his success with Daredevil, could be a perfect fit for Spider-Man’s new chapter.

All these names are in the news to direct Spider-Man 4, and each one has their specialty and experience that could give the film a new direction. Whether it’s the freshness of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the nostalgia of Sam Raimi, or the creative depth of Drew Goddard, it will be interesting for Spider-Man fans to decide whose direction will shape Spider-Man’s next iteration this time around.
