In an exciting development for fans of Dr. Seuss and animation, reports have emerged that Bill Hader will be lending his voice to the iconic Cat in the Hat character in an upcoming animated film, set to be released in 2025.
According to exclusive details from The Insider’s Jeff Snyder, Heder is set to play the sly cat in a fresh adaptation to be produced by Warner Bros. Animation. The project will be co-directed by Erica Rivinozza and Alessandro Carloni, while Rivinozza will team with Caroline Williams to write the screenplay.
While this is the first official incarnation of Hader voicing the Cat in the Hat for a full-length film, the actor briefly portrayed the beloved character physically in a memorable Saturday Night Live skit for the musical in 2014. Incarnate, with Aidy Bryant and Pete Davidson.
Hader’s diverse credentials have been showcased on a variety of platforms, most notably as co-creator and lead actor on HBO’s acclaimed soap opera, Barry, which ran for a successful four seasons. His comedic abilities have also shined in films, such as the 2007 cult favorite, Hot Rod, and the 2015 hit, Trainwreck. Additionally, audiences will recognize him for his portrayal as adult Richie Toyger in the horror 2019 sequel, It Chapter Two.
It is worth noting that Heder has an impressive resume in the field of animation, including the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs series, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Monsters University (2013), Inside Out (2015), The Angry He has voiced many beloved characters such as Birds of Prey (2016), and Toy Story 4 (2019).

Warner Animation Group and Dr. Seuss Enterprises aims to bring more of the beloved author’s works to life on the big screen. Following their partnership announcement in October of 2020, there are several projects in the pipeline that Dr. Seuss’s books.
Important anecdotes exchanged include such classics as The Cat in the Hat, which first won hearts in 1957. Additionally, fans are literally being urged to look forward to evil couple-centric spin-offs like Thing One and Thing Two and a remake of the all-time classic Oh, The Places You’ll Go.
However, there have been few updates so far on the progress of these projects. According to Sneider’s reports, it is still unclear whether the spin-off and the sequel to Oh, The Places You’ll Go are still active in development.
The Cat in the Hat was previously adapted into a live-action film in 2003, directed by Bo Welch. It stars Mike Myers, Alec Baldwin, Kelly Preston, Dakota Fanning, Spencer Breslin, Amy Hill, and Sean Hayes.
Now, with the upcoming animated adaptation of The Cat in the Hat set to be released in the year 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting more details about these interesting projects that will once again feature Dr. Promise to bring Seuss’s imaginative worlds to life.
