Rajon Rondo: Former Kentucky basketball star and Louisville native, Rondo, found himself in legal trouble once again as he was arrested on Sunday in Indiana.

The charges include possession of a firearm while being prohibited, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, all categorized as misdemeanours, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

The arrest occurred after an Indiana State Police trooper pulled over Rajon Rondo, who was driving a black 2022 Tesla, following a report of reckless driving on I-65 South.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper detected the smell of marijuana, prompting a search that uncovered a firearm, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Rajon Rondo is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to an existing protection order against him.

Following the search, Rajon Rondo was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Jail.

He later posted bond and was released. A juvenile present in the car during the arrest was released to a family member. Rajon Rondo is set to appear for an initial hearing in the Jackson County Superior Court.

This incident marks the latest in a series of legal issues for Rajon Rondo. In May 2022, he allegedly pulled a gun on his family during an argument at their Louisville home, resulting in an emergency protective order. However, the order was dismissed by a judge a month later.

Born in Louisville in 1986, Rajon Rondo gained recognition for his standout high school career at Eastern High and his impressive two seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats.

After being drafted as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, Rondo enjoyed a successful 16-year NBA career, winning championships with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. Despite his on-court achievements, Rondo has faced off-court challenges, including legal troubles in recent years.

Last September, Rondo was inducted into the UK Athletics Hall of Fame’s 2023 class, highlighting his significant contributions to the world of basketball. The recent arrest adds another chapter to Rondo’s off-court struggles, leaving fans and observers concerned about the former basketball star’s well-being.
