The next installment in the “A Quiet Place” series promises a fresh take on the terrifying world of sound-sensitive monsters, with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn at the helm. Titled “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the film ventures into the bustling streets of New York City, revealing how its inhabitants grapple with the arrival of deadly creatures.
Director John Krasinski’s initial 2018 thriller introduced audiences to the Abbott family, who fought for survival in the quietude of rural New York. The sequel, “A Quiet Place: Part II,” expanded the narrative, but “Day One” serves as a prequel, delving into the chaos of the initial invasion.
Nyong’o, portraying the character Sam, finds herself thrust into the mayhem while on a routine trip to the city. Teaming up with Eric (Quinn), the duo faces the daunting task of navigating through the urban landscape in silence, a stark contrast to the familial unity portrayed in the previous films.
“In this film, we explore the dynamics between strangers forced together by extraordinary circumstances,” Nyong’o explains. “There’s no familial bond to rely on, only survival instincts and the uncertainty of each other’s intentions.”

Quinn, known for his role as Eddie Munson in “Stranger Things,” sees “Day One” as more than a survival story; it’s a character-driven drama that explores themes of loss and adaptation. “It’s about two individuals grappling with their newfound reality and finding solace in each other’s company,” he says.

Joining Nyong’o and Quinn are actors Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou, whose roles hint at deeper connections to the franchise’s lore. Hounsou’s presence suggests an exploration of his character’s origins, shedding light on unanswered questions from previous installments.
But amidst the human drama, there’s another silent protagonist: Sam’s cat, Frodo. Nyong’o shares her unexpected journey from cat apprehension to becoming a devoted cat parent, courtesy of her furry costar. “Frodo became my companion on and off-screen,” she reveals. “It’s a testament to the film’s impact that it transformed me into a proud cat mom.”
With “A Quiet Place: Day One” set to hit theaters on June 28, audiences can anticipate a gripping narrative that challenges the boundaries of silence and survival in the concrete jungle of New York City.
