Earlier this summer, news of a James Gunn-produced Superman reboot captured the attention of fans. The cast already includes several famous actors who are known for playing major characters from the DC Universe. Characters like Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White, as well as many other important DC characters, are also part of the film. Recently, it has also been reported that fan-favorite actor Alan Tudyk will be playing an “undisclosed role” in the film, adding to the excitement.
Alan Tudyk is a multi-talented actor who gained recognition for his role as Walsh in the short-lived series “Firefly”. His film career includes popular films like “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, “3:10 to Yuma”, and “Dodgeball”. In addition, he also plays a lead role in the hit series “Resident Alien”. Tudyk’s voice talent is also a subject of praise, as he has lent his voice to several Walt Disney Animation films. His presence is expected to bring a new energy to the Superman reboot, and audiences are eagerly waiting for this film.

Superman Reboot: Alan Tudyk Joins James Gunn’s DC Universe as Doctor Phosphorus
Alan Tudyk has a deep and varied history with DC Comics, which is tied to his voice work. He voiced Barry Allen/The Flash in “Batman: Brave and the Bold” early in his career. Next, he made his mark as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in “Young Justice.” In 2017, he played Bruce Wayne’s incompetent cousin Van Wayne in the short-lived comedy series “Powerless.” Additionally, his performance as the villain Mr. Nobody in “Doom Patrol” in 2019 further endeared him to DC fans. Currently, he voices various characters such as the Joker and Clayface in “Harley Quinn.”
Tudyk has now become part of James Gunn’s new DC Universe, where he will voice Doctor Phosphorus in “Creature Commandos.” The show connects to Superman in some way, as it will feature Frank Grillo reprising his role as Rick Flag Sr. in Superman. While it’s likely that Tudyk could play Doctor Phosphorus in Superman as well, he could also voice another character. Interestingly, Sean Gunn will also voice G.I. Robot and Weasel in Creature Commandos, establishing that the same actor can play different characters in live-action.
Tudyk’s casting is another reason for excitement in the Superman reboot. Whether he plays a villain like Mister Mxyzptlk or a supporting character like Bo “Bibbo” Bibbowski, his talent-packed presence is going to make this film even more interesting. Superman will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025, and Creature Commandos will appear on streaming service Max on December 5, 2024, leaving fans eagerly waiting for both projects.
