In a casting decision that surprised many, Alcock triumphed over notable contenders such as Emilia Jones from CODA and Meg Donnelly, the voice behind Supergirl in various DC animated films like Legion of Superheroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.

Represented by CAA, Shanahan Management, Entertainment 360, and Curtis Brown, Milly Alcock is set to bring a fresh take to the iconic character.

While there are rumours of Supergirl making an appearance in James Gunn’s Superman Legacy, currently in pre-production in Georgia, this detail is not confirmed. What is certain, however, is that Alcock will feature in a DC-based project before headlining her standalone film, titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” The project announced a year ago during DC’s studio press day, is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series, with Bilquis Evely as the illustrator.

Director details for “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” are yet to be disclosed. Gunn, commenting on the project when it was initially announced, highlighted the differences between Superman and Supergirl, stating, “She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
