At Epic’s State of the Unreal keynote at GDC, attendees were treated to an unexpected reveal: ‘1943: Rise of Hydra‘ unveiled, the upcoming Marvel game helmed by renowned writer and director Amy Hennig, Recognized for his work on the Uncharted franchise, the highly anticipated game promises a rich narrative experience that includes thrilling action-adventure gameplay.
The game features a group of different playable characters, the main protagonists of which are the archetypal heroes Captain America and Black Panther. Marvel has described it as a narrative-driven action adventure that promises a jewel-filled journey into the heart of the World War II conflict.
Set in a tumultuous 1943 metropolis, the player takes on the role of four main characters: a young Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America; Azzurri, the fearsome Black Panther of the World War II era, and grandfather of T’Challa; Gabriel Jones, a brave United States soldier and legendary member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a cunning Wakandan spy adjusting to the slick streets of Occupied Paris.

“1943: Rise of Hydra Showcases Unreal Engine 5.4 in Epic’s Spotlight”
Epic Games recently highlighted “1943: Rise of Hydra” as it used the excellent Unreal Engine 5.4, marking it as a visual instrument in the gaming landscape.
The game is the genesis of Amy Hennig, whose studio is at the heart of Skydance Media. However, the studio’s projects remained silent until the unveiling of “1943”, reflecting the team’s herculean efforts. Hennig’s studio made waves by announcing a Marvel game in 2021 and a Star Wars game in 2022.
These projects fall under Disney’s significant gaming lineup, which aims to reinvigorate its gaming ventures by collaborating with well-known developers like Insomniac, Quantic Dream, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Respawn, Arkane, and more.
“1943: Rise of Hydra” is planned for release in 2025, promising an immersive gaming experience powered by the latest advancements in technology and storytelling.
